Calgary, Alberta — Corrigan Pickups and 6ix String have teamed up to create a custom set of electric guitar strings made specifically for Corrigan customers, giving players a Canadian-made pairing of strings and pickups right at the heart of the guitar’s tone.

The new Corrigan Pickups Matched Strings are premium handmade nickel-plated steel electric guitar strings, custom made by 6ix String for Corrigan Pickups. The strings will be available through Corrigan’s website at https://corriganpickups.com and in combination with select Corrigan pickup purchases.

The collaboration brings together two Canadian companies working on the parts of the guitar where tone begins: the strings and the pickups. 6ix String, Canada’s first guitar string manufacturer, makes Canada’s own premium electric, acoustic and custom guitar strings in Calgary, Alberta. Corrigan Pickups builds distinctive electric guitar pickups for players who care about output, response, and voice.

As part of the collaboration, 6ix String will also be installing Corrigan pickups in its demo guitars for use in the 6ix String listening room, at trade shows, and at events where players can hear the string and pickup combination in person.

“Players spend a lot of time choosing pickups, and they should,” said Vincent Danger, founder of 6ix String. “But the string is where the signal starts. Before the pickup, before the pedals, before the amp, there is a metal string vibrating and creating the first shape of the guitar’s tone. Working with Corrigan means we can give players a Canadian-made string and pickup combination that starts at the guitar, not somewhere down the chain.”

The first release is a 10–46 regular gauge nickel-plated steel electric set. It is designed as a familiar starting point for a wide range of players, from blues and rock to heavier styles, while keeping the focus on feel, tuning stability, and strong pickup response.

“For us, this is what collaboration should look like,” said Danger. “... not just a sticker or promo item, two Canadian companies making real things, putting them together, and giving players something useful.”
