At 6ix String, we build our strings in-house from start to finish. We obsess over details most players never see, from selecting materials and developing winding specifications to perfecting the twist on a ball end, controlling winding tension, inspecting every string, and packaging the finished product. Every step is guided by the same goal: building strings that stay in tune, feel consistent, sound musical, and perform exactly the way a player expects them to.
Every string begins with premium high-carbon steel core wire and carefully selected wrap materials chosen for their tonal and mechanical properties. Our electric guitar strings are available in nickel-plated steel and pure nickel constructions, while our acoustic strings are offered in both phosphor bronze and 80/20 bronze. Each material is selected for a specific voice, response, and playing experience.
Most of our wound strings are built around round core technology, chosen for its responsiveness, harmonic richness, tuning stability, and long-term musical character. Combined with our proprietary 3-micron zinc-plated high-carbon steel core wire, the result is a string that feels alive under the fingers, with balanced harmonics, stable tuning, and a natural musical response.
